Wyoming County's Substance Abuse Prevention Program and Community Prevention Coalition
In our May coalition meeting a few topics were discussed. P4P discussed the 2017 prevention needs assessment survey. The data was presented. The mini grants were opened up and are due on June 14, 2018. The grants are to focus on family togetherness. The Perry, Letchworth, Attica, and Warsaw SADD students presented their accomplishment from this school year.
Our September Coalition Meeting included a presentation by John Bennett, of Kids Escaping Drugs, who discussed current drug trends among youth. Afterwards, two youth from the Renaissance House treatment program shared the very moving events leading up to their addictions and recovery. Our May Coalition Meeting included a presentation by Dr. Maria Adams, of Oak Orchard Medical Center, about the effects of Energy Drinks on Youth.
In addition to Dr. Adams' presentation, students and advisors from our local SADD Chapters presented the projects and activities they participated in this year, and gave awards to their prospective School Resource Officers.

Our November Coalition Meeting included a presentation by Ellen Denizard and Emily Foschio of Roswell Park Cancer Institute on Evidence Basted Treatment, including Nicotine Replacement Therapy, the "5 A's", and Motivational Interviewing. This valuable information will help our coalition members spread the word within our communities about different smoking cessation techniques.
Our March Coalition Meeting included a presentation by Dr. Paul Updike as well as a round table discussion featuring local medical professionals as well as individuals impacted by the opioid epidemic.
